someone reminds me what justice isCristian Fernandez is only 12 years old. And if Florida prosecutor Angela Corey has her way, he’ll never leave jail again.
Cristian hasn’t had an easy life. He’s the same age now as his mother was when he was born. He’s a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. In 2010, Cristian watched his stepfather commit suicide to avoid being charged with abusing Cristian.
Last January, Cristian was wrestling with his 2-year-old brother, David, and accidentally broke David’s leg. Despite this, their mother left Cristian with his brother again in March. While the two boys were alone, Cristian allegedly pushed his brother against a bookcase, and David sustained a head injury. After their mother returned home, she waited six hours before taking David to the hospital. David eventually died.
Now Cristian is being charged with first degree murder — as an adult. He’s the youngest person in the history of his Florida county to receive this charge, and his next hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.

this world is so fucked up yo.
Ugh, this is so counter productive and I’m sure the judge knows that.
why isn’t the mom getting any shit?
Thats bullshit children play its his moms fault for not taking him to the hospital
I’m going to play devil’s advocate here but should we really blame the mom for not taking him to the hospital? We don’t know the entire story, so don’t be quick to judge. Head injuries aren’t always so apparent. She could’ve thought less of it than it was. She shouldn’t have left the kid alone with him, she’s very negligent for that, but if she really didn’t think the head injury was serious, I would think and hope she was monitoring and taking care of the baby thinking it wasn’t too serious because we live in this magical land where not everyone can afford health care and ER fees. I’m not dismissing what she did, but I could see an explanation as to why she didn’t take the baby to the ER.
This is a cycle of neglect/abuse that should’ve and could’ve been stopped. An innocent little boy lost his life, and another has to fight for his and get the help that he needs, him and his family.
